Help - Generating reports - Getting started with reports

Reports allow you to analyze your data and determine relationships. While reports can be generated with any amount of user entries, the longer a user has been adding user entries and the more user entries added by the user, the more accurate and informative reports will be.

lifecentral contains three types of reports: the frequency graph, the correlations graph, and regression analysis. All three reports are available on the "View reports" page. The specific uses for each report are outlined below.

The frequency graph

The frequency graph displays a line graph of how often you participated in an activity, ate a food, or had any other type of entry occur across a selected time period. The plot contains time period on one axis with the number of occurrences of an event over that time period on the other axis.

The correlations graph

The correlations graph displays a scatter plot comparing the frequency of selected entries with each other over a given time period. The plot contains points that represent number of occurrences of one event (over a given time period) on one axis with the number of occurrences of another event (over the same time period) the other axis.

The regression analysis

The regression analysis report performs a statistical analysis that calculates which type of entries are most closely related with which other entries. The report finds activities, foods, moods, symptoms, and drugs that tend to occur around the same time and that display a "dose-response relationship."

Downloading raw data

User data is also available for download for analysis using an external program, such as Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice.org Calc. In order to obtain the data, select "Download raw data" from the "View reports" menu.

The prompt to download raw data

Your browser will then prompt you to download the csv (comma separated values) file, which can then be opened in many graphing programs.
